Scott on the Badde Pentumas via ferrata. Yes, the trees down below are all huge holly oaks! - - Cover On the most vertical section they have placed a chain instead of the steel cable: I guess to allow a better grip for the hands. - - Cover Almost on top! - - Cover The starting point is almost below us... Down down below us! - - Cover
Having vertigo? This is the best walk for you! - - Cover On top! The canyon appears as a huge gash on the mountain continuum. - - Cover Conillo on a Juniper. At the bottom is the Lanaitto valley: our starting point. - - Cover We reach the Cuile Duavidda, an ancient Sheppard hut, at 800 meters of altitude. - - Cover
From here we can see all the Badde Pentumas canyon leading to the Lanaitto valley. We climbed up from 150 m to 800, now it is time to climb down! - - Cover There's no streaming water in Badde Pentumas: it comes only during storms... - - Cover ...But the drought of this year has dried everything: where I used to struggling to avoid stagnant ponds, now there's only solid rock! - - Cover Abseiling down. - - Cover
One abseil after the other. - - Cover We encounter many dead animals: mouflons, wild goats and boars. It is not uncommon to find a couple of animals fallen in the canyon; but this time the amount of them is impressive and I wonder what has happened all these pour animals. (No, I didn't take pictures of them). - - Cover At the end we arrive back at the via-ferrata's starting point. Shall we play it again? :-) - - Cover Well, maybe for today it is better to end here. This episode ends as it started: with a nice pizza in Dorgali! See you for the next episode. - - Cover
