On top of San Pantaleo Peaks
-
After Tiscali we visit the so called "Giant's Tomb": a strange Nuragic typology of sanctuary, built 3000 years ago.
Archaeologists still don't know what it was for.
It gets this name because it has the shape of a tomb, with sepulchre and gravestone, but in a giant scale: what you see here would be the room for the coffin.

Last time I saw a fascinating cave, but it was difficult to reach and I didn't have time.
Today we had to struggle for a while, but finally here we are!

From the cave.

Afternoon, Scott needs to work online.
Conillo and me are exploring a new trail.

Climbing Scala Impedrata, the highest peak of this ridge.
In the centre is San Pantaleo village, on the right are the peaks of this morning.

Crazy rock shapes.

I decided to climb down on the opposite side of Scala Impedrata, but there was no trail there. After a long struggle and bush bashing I finally got to the valley ...but ther's no trail here too!

I finally manage to get to the ruined cottage of Stazzu Pinniteddi: there's a marked trail to go back here!
Behind the cottage is Scala Impedrata: I climbed up from the left, following the cairns, and found my way down on the right.

In one hour I'm back to our base camp.

Last day: today Scott goes to Portugal and I'll head back to Rome.

Leaving san Pantaleo we encounter this nice Sardinian turtle.
